The Angel Fall is located in the highlands of Guayana, one of the five regions of Venezuela. A huge water column that gushes furiously from the imponent rock wall of the Auyantepui, falls with a deafening sound and disappears into a dense mist of water before reaching the Churun river. It's the highest waterfall of the world: with 979 meters of altitude, of which 807 are continous decline, while the rest are small water breaks equally impressive.
The waterfall is located in Canaima National Park, which is spread over 3 million hectares in south-eastern Venezuela along the border between Guayana and Brazil, in Bolivar state. It was declared "National Park" on june 12 of 1962 by the National Government and a "World Herritage Site" by UNESCO on 1994. In the XXI century, the Angel Fall was one of the 28 finalists in the election of the seven natural wonders of the world.
This fall is named after the adventurous American aviator Jimmy Crawford Angel, who saw the waterfall for the first time in 1933 accompanied of his couple while they were searching for the legendary Gold River or the Golden City.
The fascinating Canaima National Park is the perfect combination of magic and reality, conformed by impressive mountains called Tepuyes, innumerable rivers, lakes, waterfalls, forests and savannahs that extend like a green sea. Everyone should visit this place at least once in their lives.

El Salto Ángel está situado en las tierras altas de Guayana, una de las cinco regiones de Venezuela. Una enorme columna de agua que brota furiosamente de la imponente pared de roca descarnada del tepuy Auyantepuy cae con un ensordecedor bramido y desaparece entre una densa bruma de agua pulverizada antes de alcanzar el río Churún. Así es el Salto Ángel, la cascada más alta del mundo con sus 979 metros de altitud, de los cuales tan solo 807 son caída continua, mientras que el resto son pequeños saltos de agua igualmente impresionantes.
La cascada se ubica en el Parque Nacional Canaima, el cual cuenta con 3 millones de hectáreas y está ubicado en el suroeste de Venezuela, en el estado Bolívar. Fue declarado "Parque Nacional" el 12 de junio de 1962 y "Patrimonio de la Humanidad" por la UNESCO en 1994. En el siglo XXI, el Salto Ángel fue uno de los 28 finalstas en la elección de las siete maravillas naturales del mundo.
Esta caída debe su nombre al aventurero aviador estadounidense Jimmy Crawford Angel, quien vio la cascada por primera vez en 1933 junto a su pareja mientras realizaba la búsqueda del legendario Río de Oro o la Ciudad Dorada.
